Lost in the Soot - Part 2

November 2019, my home was decimated by a fire. Lost in the Soot is the documentation of the remnants.

The work is a journey through the mourning of lost possessions and the memories and intrinsic value we imbue them.

The monetary audit by the insurance company of my belongings raised the meaning of value. How is value replaced? How is memory preserved? How is loss accepted?

I photographed the charred remains of my home in an attempt to answer these questions and decipher the trauma of loss and guilt of burnt possessions that held memories of from my sons’ early years, all Lost in the Soot.
